Stephen Packer is an Australian-based Writer & Director whose work has screened at festivals around the world. His film Alpha Test won the Audience Award at the Adelaide Film Festival and the Screenplay Award at Flickerfest and his short Unprompted played live in front of 35,000 people as a finalist at Tropfest 2026.

Commercially, his work has been recognised at the AWARD Awards, the Effies and the AADC Awards, and he’s directed campaigns for distinguished brands including UniSuper, San Remo, The SA Police and South Australia Tourism — the last of which earned him a Gold ACS Award for his striking cinematography.

Stephen’s humanitarian and documentary work has taken him to more than 15 countries for organisations including the Salvation Army, Australian Volunteers International and Global Women’s Project.

These projects have seen him document child labour in the granite mines of Bengaluru, work undercover to investigate sex trafficking in the red light districts of Greece and lend a voice to those working on the front line of a humanitarian disaster in the Rohingya Refugee Camps of Cox’s Bazar.

Stephen is currently deep in development on his debut feature.
